This Central Bridge Corporation stock certificate was issued in 1823 and is signed by Ichabod Bartlett. The Central Bridge was simple wood beam bridge that connected the towns of Bristol and New Hampton, New Hampshire. The original bridge made revenue through tolls. The bridge was destroyed and rebuilt in 1836. Today the Central Street Bridge in on the National Register of Historic Places in New Hampshire.

Ichabod Bartlett was a graduate of Dartmouth and practiced law. He began working in the New Hampshire Senate and became a member of the House of Representatives from 1819 - 1821 and became speaker in 1821. He was elected to the 18th and 19th Congresses representing New Hampshire in the U.S. House of Representatives. He then served in the New Hampshire House on several more occasions through the 1850s. He ran for New Hampshire Governor in 1832 but lost.
