Description Extended Information

The Edison International Corporation was part of the Edison Storage Battery Company.  We believe they were responsible for the international distribution of the Edison Battery. This Stock Certificate is from the 1910s, is unissued,  and is a very rare version of the stock certificate. Edison Storage Battery was formed in 1901 by Thomas Edison to sell his alkaline battery.  He served as the first president of the company.  Production began in 1903 and finally turned a profit 10 years later.  The batteries were primarily used in mining lamps, train lights and signals, submarines and electric vehicles.  The Edison Storage Battery Supply Co was formed in 1913 to sell the batteries and was owned by Thomas Edison. Upon his death it merged into Thomas A. Edison, Inc.
