This rare $1000 Baltimore and Ohio Railroad gold bond was issued in 1916 to Heidi Actress Mary Nash and signed by her on the back. Mary Nash was a stage actress in New York and London and appeared on Broadway's Alice Sit by the Fire, Captain Jinks and The Silver Box. Here last Broadway appears was Uncle Tom's Cabin in 1933 before moving to Hollywood. She was best known for appearing in Shirley Temple movies Heidi and the The Little Princess. She played Katharine Hepburn's mother in The Philadelphia Story and also appeared in Come and Get It and In the Meantime, Darling.

The B&O railroad is the oldest railroad in the United States was also made famous in the classic Monopoly board game. It was the only Railroad on the board that did not service Atlantic City which the original Monopoly places were named after. The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad first opened in 1830 connecting Baltimore to Sandy Hook. It would expand greatly over the years.
