Post & Flagg was founded by George B. Post and W. Allston Flagg. They were members of the NYSE and Flagg was a governor of the Exchange. Their offices were on Broad Street and they had direct, private wires to Boston, Chicago, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Newark and Washington D.C. which was a pretty big advantage in the early 1900s.
A local write-up at the time said, "Post & Flagg are thoroughly conservative in their methods and have clientage of high class. Their business has increased year after year and they are recognized as one of the leading banking and brokerage house which maintain the traditions, standards and respectability of Wall Street."
