This American Caramel Company Stock Certificate was issued in 1916 and is hand-signed by the company president. The American Caramel Company was incorporated in 1898 when the Breisch-Hine Company merged with P.C. Wiest & Company in Pennsylvania.  They acquired the Lancaster Caramel Company from Hershey in 1900 and became famous for including baseball cards with its candies.  They would control 90% of the U.S. caramel market.
