Description Extended Information

This is a rare Anheuser-Busch Specimen Note Certificate was printed in 1990 for 8 3/4% and due in 1995 and features founder Adolphus Busch in the vignette. This stock certificate has August A. Busch as Chairman and President, also known as "Auggie" who was the great-grandson of founder Adolphus Busch.

Dating back to 1852 when Bravarian Brewery was opened in St. Louise Missouri, Anheuser-Busch has become one of the worlds most famous and popular breweries. Anheuser Busch products brands such as Budweiser, Bud Light, and Busch beer. In 2008 the company merged with Interbrew from Belgium and AmBev from Brazil forming the current company AB InBev. AB InBev trades on several stock exchanges including the Euronext as ABI and the NYSE as BUD.

Specimen stock certificates are certificates that were archived by printers and the company as perfect examples of the company’s stock issue. Specimen’s can be identified by their “specimen” stamp, stamped holes spelling “specimen”, or they are often issued with a serial number of a series of zeros. Often, they are also issued with no serial number at all. Specimens can also represent a design that was never issued. All of these attributes make the specimen stock certificate rarer than the issued version of the share. Many enthusiasts collect specimens as a whole new category of Scripophily.
