This hand-colored old map of Washington D.C. and Georgetown was made by the famous map making family Colton in 1871. Gorgeous engravings feature United States Capitol, the Smithsonian Institution, and the Washington Monument. Details feature the U.S. Navy Yard and the sites of many monuments in the D.C. area as well as Railroads and Pennsylvania Avenue. Great Civil War Era map of the Washington D.C.

J.H. Colton was a prominent map maker in the United States in the 19th Century. His first atlas, Colton's Atlas of the World was issue in two volumes in 1855 and 1856. Sons G.W. and C.W joined the firm and both became accredited on maps around 1857.
