Our collection of antique Universal Stockers were in various states of disrepair. Each had the majority of their components.
Each machine was carefully photographed from multiple angles. Once photographed, each machine was disassembled. Then each machine was cleaned. A variety of solutions were used to clean different parts of the machines such as mild soap, petroleum distillate and glass cleaner. The coils were kept intact and cleaned. The coils that were damaged were wrapped in textured canvas black tape to maintain the vintage look.
Each cast iron base was carefully and meticulously cleaned with steel wool to remove any buildup of rust and dirt. Emery paper was then used to sand down and flatten the valleys or pitting. The bases were each primed with automotive grade primer and finished with black enamel paint. A pin stripe was then hand painted, with gold enamel, on each base.
A period correct decal was then added to the base. The decals derived from an original. If parts were missing or needed to be replaced, we used a “donor ticker” or fabricated parts, such as springs, nuts, screws and bolts. Cloth string was made of serving from archery materials.
Once all parts were ready, we re-assembled each stock ticker based on the photographs.
Each one now looks as it would have from its time period.
Many hours were put into the restoration of each stock ticker.
