This rare Commemorative Stock Certificate was handed out on the trading floor November 13, 2000 by the CME. Prior to this date, the CME was a privately held Illinois non-profit owned by its members. On this date, they became a for profit company in a process called Demutualization. Members received shares of the new CME. In 2002, CME became a public company trading on the Nasdaq.

Now known as CME Group Inc., they operate the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Chicago Board of Trade, New York Mercantile Exchange and the Commodity Exchange. They are the largest operator of derivatives exchanges in the world.
