Description Extended Information

The rare specimen Chrysler Corporation Stock Certificate was printed in the 1970s and features John J. Riccando as President. Riccando guided Chrysler through the difficult 70s and recruited his successor, Lee Iacocca. This specimen certificate is for less than 100 shares.

Chrysler LLC is the American automobile manufacturer founded in 1925. Chrysler has recently been under several different ownerships including DaimlerChrysler and Cerberus Capital Management. Chrysler was deeply affected by the downturn in the economy and filed for Chapter 11 in 2009. In 2014 Chrysler merged with Fiat.

Added to the Dow Jones Industrial Average October 1, 1928.

Specimen stock certificates are certificates that were archived by printers and the company as perfect examples of the company’s stock issue. Specimen’s can be identified by their “specimen” stamp, stamped holes spelling “specimen”, or they are often issued with a serial number of a series of zeros. Often, they are also issued with no serial number at all. Specimens can also represent a design that was never issued. All of these attributes make the specimen stock certificate rarer than the issued version of the share. Many enthusiasts collect specimens as a whole new category of Scripophily.
