This rare $1,000 bond was issued by the City of Bridgeport Connecticut in 1955 to help fund their new Fire House. It was hand signed by Mayor Jasper McLevy

Jasper McLevy was a socialist at time when in our country when their ideas we considered as anarchists. He became the Mayor of Bridgeport in 1933 much to the surprise of the national media. He took over a community that was in financial shambles after the Great Depression. Through fiscal restraint and creativity he turned around their financial situation and championed the idea of transparency in government affairs at the time. He served as Mayor until 1957
