This Clark Hardware & Furniture Company stock certificate was issued in 1936 and is low certificate #112. It is signed by president Lon M. Rish. Incorporated in Bluefield, West Virginia in 1919. Clark Hardware and Furniture Company was a subsidiary of the Bluefield Supply Company and operated a chain of eight retail stores in the Bluefield area and catered to the nearby coalfields' workers and families. The first store was founded by Lon M Rish would would become president of the chain in 1930. Rish Hall, a women's dormitory , was named in his honor at the Bluefield College.

The Bluefield Supply Company was the largest business in the area engaged in the mill, mine and contractor supply.
