This Columbia Pictures Corporation stock certificate was issued to Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith in 1964. One of the leading film studios in the world, Columbia Pictures was founded in 1918 and adopted the name Columbia Pictures in 1924. They are now a division of Sony Pictures. Their logo is Columbia (the "Torch Lady") the female personification of the United States. Columbia's success began to really emerge in the 1930s-40 with the signing of Cary Grant and Rita Hayworth.
