This Dr. Pepper Stock Certificate was issued in 1950 to Harris, Upham & Co who would later merged with Smith Barney.

Harris, Upham & Co was a Wall Street brokerage house founded in 1895. In 1975 Smith Barney merged with Harris, Upham & Co to form Smith Barney, Harris Upham & Co. The Harris, Upham name was removed 2 years later. In 2009, Smith Barney merged with Morgan Stanley to form Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.

Dr. Pepper was developed by Charles Alderton, a pharmacist in Waco, Texas in 1880s. In 1904, it was introduced at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition as a new kind of soda with 23 flavors. Coca-Cola was introduced just a year earlier.
