This GameStop medallion was given out at the NYSE in 2007 to commemorate the 5th Anniversary of their listing on the New York Stock Exchange. The video game retailer would become one of most traded and controversial stocks during the Covid-Era and would become known as the kind of the meme-stocks. In 2021, a short squeeze resulted in a 1500% share price increase in just two weeks led by retail investors in the WallStreetBets chat forum on Reddit and influencer Keith Gill aka Roaring Kitty. The story will live on forever in text books and also spawned several movies and television shows.
