General American Investors Company was founded in 1927 by Lazard Freres and Lehman Brothers as the General American Investors Investment Trust.  Freres and Lehman Brothers launched a second fund called the Second General American Investors Company.  The two funds were merged in 1928 and the name changed to General American Investors Company.  The fund still operates today, trading on the NYSE under the ticker symbol GAM.  Issued in the 1930s
