Description Extended Information

The Grumman Corporation was founded as the Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation in 1929 on Long Island. Grumman became a major supplier for the Navy during the 1930s building bombers and fighter and expanded greatly during the War. It followed bringing fighter jets to the market including the F-14 Tomcat featured in the movie Top Gun. They were also the chief contractor on the Apollo Lunar Module landing the first humans on the Moon. They later became known as Grumman Aerospace Corporation which existed until 1994 when it was bought by the Northrop Corporation to become Northrop Grumman. The Grumman Corporation was the parent company of all these entilties until its merger.

Specimen stock certificates are certificates that were archived by printers and the company as perfect examples of the company’s stock issue. Specimen’s can be identified by their “specimen” stamp, stamped holes spelling “specimen”, or they are often issued with a serial number of a series of zeros. Often, they are also issued with no serial number at all. Specimens can also represent a design that was never issued. All of these attributes make the specimen stock certificate rarer than the issued version of the share. Many enthusiasts collect specimens as a whole new category of Scripophily.
