This hand-colored old map of Maine was published by A.J. Johnson in 1865. The map is from Johnson's New Illustrated (Steel Plate) Family Atlas. This fantastic display features five comparative charts of mountains and rivers of the continents. Each charts features the mountains on the bottom and the rivers on the top as well as some details of each.

A.J. Johnson was a prominent map maker in the United States in the 19th Century. He worked along side Colton in his early days before branching out on his own. His first major publication was Johnson's New Illustrated (Steel Plate) Family Atlas.
