Description Extended Information

This very rare Kraftco Corp Specimen Stock Certificate was printed in 1969. Before it was Kraft Foods juggernaut, they were the National Dairy Products Corporation which was founded in 1923. They were originally formed to consolidate the fragmented ice cream business through acquisitions.

By 1930 they were the 3rd largest dairy company in the U.S. In 1903 the J.L. Kraft and Bros. Company started a door-to-door cheese business in Chicago and became the Kraft Cheese Company in 1924 and later the Kraft-Phenix Cheese Company. In 1930, Kraft-Phenix merged with National Dairy and was called National Dairy until 1969 when they changed the name to Kraftco.

In 1976 they changed their name to Kraft, Inc. The name Kraftco was only used for 7 year making their stock certificates very rare.

About Specimens:
Specimen stock certificates are certificates that were archived by printers and the company as perfect examples of the company’s stock issue. Specimen’s can be identified by their “specimen” stamp, stamped holes spelling “specimen”, or they are often issued with a serial number of a series of zeros. Often, they are also issued with no serial number at all. Specimens can also represent a design that was never issued. All of these attributes make the specimen stock certificate rarer than the issued version of the share. Many enthusiasts collect specimens as a whole new category of Scripophily.
