This Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railway company stock certificate was signed by president George Jay Gould in 1886.

George Jay Gould was the son of Robber Barron Jay Gould and inherited his father's wealth and railroad holdings upon his death. George Gould would also run the Denver and Rio Grande Western, the Manhattan Railway and the Western Pacific Railroads as well. After visiting the tomb of Tutankhamen in Egypt, he died of pneumonia on the French Riviera after contracting a fever in 1923.

The Missouri Kansas and Texas Railway was founded in 1870 in Junction City Kansas. A Missouri Kansas and Texas train was famously robbed by the Dalton Gang on July 14th 1892 in Adair, Indian Territory.
