This Monsanto Company $5000 Bond Certificate was issued in 1978. Incorporated in 1901 in Chicago, their first product was a new product called Saccharin.  In their first few years, 100% of their product was shipped to Coca-Cola.  In 1904 they added Vanilla and Caffeine to their product line and Aspirin in 1917.  They would become the largest manufacturer of Aspirin in the U.S.  Later, they would supply the fiberglass to the first Corvette made by General Motors in 1953.
