Description Extended Information

Publicker Industries started when Harry Publicker started steaming old whiskey barrels to extract the leftover whiskey. They built it's first distillery in 1912 in South Philly between Bigler Street and Packer Ave and produced brands such as Cobb's Creek, Embassy Club, Philadelphia, and Diplomat. The whiskey distillery was known as Continental Distilling. This made whiskey until 1985.

The company's main source of revenue was operating an industrial chemical plant which ended up on the Hazardous Site National Priority List (NPL) and became one of the worst environmental cleanups in EPA history. Issued 1960s - 1970s.
