This S.S. Kresge Company Stock Certificate was issued in 1972.  S.S. Kresge was inspired by his meeting and business with Frank W. Woolworth and opened his first five-and-dime in 1897. They incorporated in 1912 in Delaware with 85 stores and shortly after would incorporate another S.S. Kresge Company in Michigan.  The Michigan company would become the modern day Kmart company.
