Description

This report was produced by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in 1982 and provides its first ever report on the Intermarket Trading System (ITS). The ITS was electronic network connecting the major U.S. stock exchanges. It was used by broker and market makers for best execution of trades. It allowed traders to place trades directly on the various exchange without going through a broker. It included the NYSE, AMEX, Boston, Chicago, Pacific and Philadelphia Exchange, CBOE, and Nasdaq.

The ITS began in 1978 until it was slowly phased out in the 2000s as it was replaced by more advanced systems and Exchange began to migrate elsewhere

This report provides and in-depth review the SEC's findings.
