The Famous Studebaker automobile was founded in 1852 as the Studebaker Brothers Manufacturing Company in Sound Bend Indiana. Originally they produced wagons that were used by farmers, miners and the military. In the early 1900s they began producing automobiles, first with a electric car and then gasoline engines.

Their cars were sold under the name Studebaker until they merged with Packard in 1954 and formed the Studebaker-Packard Company.

This rare stock certificate is from the original Studebaker Brothers Company and is unissued from the early 1900s. The vignette features an etching of their manufacturing plant.
