This C. and M. Amusement Company Stock Certificate was un-issued. Incorporated in Marietta, Ohio. The C&M Amusement Company purchased the lots on Putnam and Thirds Streets in Marietta after the Vauderville House theatre burned down in 1917. Two years later, they opened the new Hippodrome Theatre with a showing of Daddy Long Legs starring Mary Pickford. The new Theatre was one of the largest in the Midwest and was built to stage the biggest Broadway plays. The Theatre has seven dressing rooms and seating for 1200. In 1929 they installed Vitaphone talking and synchronized moving pictures. By the 1960s it transitioned to modern movies and was purchased by Shea Theatres. After years of changing ownership, the theatre has been restored to its former glory and re-opened in 2016.
