This is a very rare Chaplin Studios, Inc. stock certificate from the 1910s. It is unissued, however it is marked certificate #30 making it a very early certificate. There are only 10 known stock certificates signed by Charlie Chaplin himself. The first 10 certificates bear his original signature. Starting at certificate #11, Alfred Reeves signed as president.

Charlie Chaplin's desire to have more freedom and control over the quality of his movies led him to open Chaplin Studios, Inc. in 1918. He built his own studio on five acres off of Sunset Boulevard. It operated until 1953 when he sold the property. It changed hands several times including King Studios, and Red Skelton Studios. The Adventures of Superman and the show Perry Mason was shot there. It then served as the headquarters for A&M Records until 2000 when it became the location of the Jim Henson Company and Studios. The list of movies and Hollywood stars that graced the Chaplin Studios is extensive.

Condition; as pictured, slight separation of the lower perforation of the receipt. Very nice piece.
