The Kansas City, Mexico and Orient Railway was founded in 1900 by railroad magnate Arthur Edward Stilwell. The Railroad was intended to reach from Kansas City to the Pacific Ocean in Sinaloa Mexico. The Railroad went broke in 1912 and was taken over by William T. Kemper who made a fortune when oil was discovered under the railroad property. The railroad was sold to the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fee Railway in 1928 to provide access to the West Texas oil fields. Issued in 1906. Vignette of a traveling steam train.

A.E. Stillwell was also the founder of the Kansas City, Pittsburg and Gulf Railroad which became the Kansas City Southern.
