This Mahoning Coal Railroad Company stock certificate was un-issued from the 1800s. The Mahoning Coal Railroad was founded in 1871 and operated in Ohio and Pennsylvania. It was leased to the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway in 1873 which was assumed by the New York Central Railroad in 1914. When The New York Central merged with the Pennsylvania Railroad forming Penn Central and Penn Central went bankrupt in 1970 the Mahoning Coal Railroad was dissolved. The Mahoning Coal Railroad was listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in 1888.  Vignette features a railworker and train passing through a tunnel in the background.  Preferred stock.
