Issued in 1981. The Sperry Corporation was founded as the Sperry Gyroscope Company in 1910 by Elmer Ambrose Sperry. During World War I the company began developing and producing aircraft equipment including Gyroscopes and Bomb sighting instruments. The company became Sperry Corp in 1933 and Sperry Rand Corp in 1955. In 1986 Sperry merged with Burroughs Corp. to form Unisys. Sperry Rand is known for its aviation instruments such as artificial horizon, autopilot, and gyro gun sighting.
