Description Extended Information

This Uncle Sam Oil Company Stock Certificate was signed by Henry Harrison Tucker, Jr. in 1907 just a month after Oklahoma became a state. H,H, Tucker Jr. originally moved from Kansas to Oklahoma Territory to Homestead before getting into the oil business. He started the Uncle Sam Oil Company and the Texas American Syndicate. Tucker was often portrait as "David" in the David & Goliath struggle against J.D. Rockefeller and Standard Oil. This depiction was once portrayed on the cover of Puck Magazine in 1905. Tucker was litigious and did not hesitate to bring his adversaries to court. Others described him as swindler.

The Uncle Sam Oil company was founded in 1905 in Kansas and operated a refinery in Oklahoma City with pipeline laid to Kansas City. They also operated in Cherryvale, Atchison, and Tulsa Oklahoma.
