This Tootsie Roll Industries, Inc. Stock Certificate was issued in 1999. In 1907, Leo Hirshfield wanted a chocolaty candy that would not melt in the heat. He named his new candy after his daughter's nickname, "Tootsie", thus the Tootsie Roll was born. In 1917 his New York Company changed its name to The Sweets Company of America. In 1931, the Tootsie Pop was invented. They became Tootsie Roll Industries, Inc. in 1966.
