Description Extended Information

What many don't know is that British motorcycle company Triumph actually has German roots. in 1886, Siegfried Bettmann from Nurnberg founded the Triumph Bicycle company in Coventry England. After about 10 years, he went back to Nurnberg and founded another bicycle company under the same name. Not long after, both companies started to motorize their bikes.

With WWI approaching, the companies want to differentiate their brands and the German company became Triumph Werke Nurnberg. After the war, the separation was fairly clear although they shared parts and engines. Eventually the British Triumph added a curved line underneath their logo to further differentiate their brands. The TWN brand appeared on German motorcycles in 1931. They produced several models and also began making motorcycles for the war effort in WWII.

This rare and fantastic German Triumph Certificate is for 100 Reichsmark and is pre WWII, dated July 1933. Fantastic piece of Motorcyle history.
